Dragonfly 2.0 Delivers More Performance For This Modern Replacement To Redis & Memcached

Released on Wednesday was a new version of the Dragonfly database that continues to promote itself as "the world's most efficient in-memory data store" and a modern replacement to the likes of Redis and Memcached while being fully compatible with their APIs.

Dragonfly 2.0 saw its major version number bumped to reflect its "maturity, performance, and production readiness." With this new version there is expanded Redis and Valkey compatibility with Valkey 9 RDB loading support and other enhancements.

Performance continues to be a driving focus for the Dragonfly in-memory database with the v2.0 release now reducing connection processing and memory accounting overhead while bringing other optimizations. Buffering and RDB serialization costs are also said to be lower with Dragonfly 2.0. The new version also provides configurable burst and cool-down limits for background defragmentation, among other enhancements.
