Hideo Kojima Thanks Xbox For Backing His Vision, As Physint Casts It Star Bill Skarsgård Amid PlayStation 2026 Fallout

As the confirmation that PlayStation would be backing away from publishing Kojima Productions' PHYSINT was fresh, not many expected to see an update on the project that will be published by Xbox. However, Hideo Kojima surprised everyone by making a brief appearance during the Xbox Tokyo Game Show showcase earlier today to provide an update on both the action-espionage game and the horror game OD.
OD Will Test The Thresholds Of Fear
After recounting a visit to Redmond earlier this year and a discussion with Xbox head Asha Sharma about the future of games and digital entertainment, the legendary game designer delivered a brief update on OD. Development is proceeding smoothly, including performance capture which was halted due to an earlier SAG-AFTRA strike.
While no footage of the game was shown, Kojima-san confirmed that the game made possible by the partnership with Xbox will test the thresholds of fear, and that constant experimentation and iteration allowed the project to take shape. More information will come in the future.
Bill Skarsgård Joins Physint As Lead Actor
Surprisingly enough, considering the upheaval the project must have gone through with PlayStation backing away (reportedly over budget fears and timed exclusivity) and the new Xbox partnership, Hideo Kojima delivered a new update on PHYSINT. The game will be the culmination of 40 years of his career, and will redefine action-espionage, completely unbound by existing genres.
As with OD, no footage was shown. However, Kojima-san not only confirmed that development is making steady progress with castings, talent scans, and collaborations with external creators, but also that the final vision is more solidified. Additionally, we received confirmation that Bill Skarsgård (It, It Chapter Two) will play the yet-to-be-named main character as the game's lead actor, along with a glimpse of the actor in costume.
Thanking Xbox for believing in Kojima Productions' vision and walking this path toward the future with the studio, Hideo Kojima concluded this small update. While we haven't seen a whole lot of these new projects, there's plenty to be excited about for any fan of the legendary creator of the Metal Gear series, myself included.
With the Death Stranding series, Kojima-san created something truly unique, so I cannot wait to see how he will break the boundaries of horror and action-espionage with OD and PHYSINT.
