Upcoming HP EliteBook X G3i Could Be The First Nova Lake-Based Notebook With A 20-Core CPU As Spotted In SiSoftware

HP EliteBook X G3i 14-inch Laptop With a Possible 20-Core Nova Lake CPU Spotted; Features Up To 4.6 GHz and 18 MB of L3 Cache

The current generation of HP EliteBook, known as EliteBook X G2i with a 14-inch display, features a Panther Lake-H CPU. The official website states Intel Core Ultra 7 356H, a 16-core processor with 18 MB L3 cache. However, a new EliteBook X laptop just appeared out of nowhere on the SiSoftware platform, revealing that HP is already preparing the new "G3i" 14-inch notebook with a processor that doesn't seem to rely on the Panther Lake series.

As per the leaked specifications, this laptop features a 20-Core CPU listed as a "Genuine Intel(R) 0000" processor, which is possibly an early engineering sample from Intel's Nova Lake family. Since we are nearing the official Nova Lake launch, we are likely going to see such early samples on various platforms. One of the biggest indicators of this sample being a Nova Lake CPU is its core configuration and the cache size.

We currently do not have any 20-core CPUs in the Panther Lake family. Moreover, this doesn't seem to be from Arrow Lake either, as 20-core Arrow Lake CPUs like the Core Ultra 7 265HX feature an L3 cache size of 30 MB. So, this new configuration could mean nothing except for the new Nova Lake series. Moreover, the processor has four blocks of L2 cache with 4 MB each, which indicates that it's associated with the Nova Lake Coyote Cove P-cores.

This particular SKU features a clock range of 3-4.6 GHz, and brings an 18 MB L3 cache, similar to Panther Lake-H family SKUs. All in all, this is probably one of the appearances of a Nova Lake mobile SKU with unofficial specifications, even though Nova Lake-H and Nova Lake-HX have been confirmed by popular hardware monitor software such as HWiNFO months ago.
